An oil on copper painting of a young girl, dated 1702. German, early 18th century. The painting depicts a young girl with her hair tied into plaited bunches, bound with gold wire, over which she wears a velvet headdress and a black cap. She is dressed in a black and grey gown trimmed with gold, complemented by a lace collar. To her left appear her monogram and the date of the portrait, ‘1702’. The painting is presented in an early gilded copper frame.
