Rare pink enamel-ground travelling inkwell. The domed lid has a central hand-painted vignette of cherubs playing an instrument and admiring a painting, surrounded by a blue border. The sides and edges also have central vignettes of rural scenes with blue borders and matching squiggle decoration around the sides and edges. The gilded copper hinges open to reveal its original contents of a faceted glass ink and sander with hand painted enamel floral lids, a sliding pencil with screw on opposite side to attach the 4 screw-in instruments and an agate seal.
