Artist: J. Browne A group of four portraits of Champion Racing Pigeons. Painted in oil on artists' board, inscribed beneath each portrait with a record of the bird, the names of the owners and the pigeon's achievements. Signed and dated by the artist, J. Browne, 1925/1926. Now presented within simple ebonized frames with gilt sights. So little is known of the folk artist J. Browne that we seem not to even know his given name. He is however, considered a significant figure in Northern British Folk Art, although fair to say, this influence may be limited to his paintings of pigeons. Item Code: 5762
