Out of this world spectacular antique French brooch of a dragonfly resting on a crescent moon. The crescent is encrusted in rose cut diamonds and so is one set of the dragonfly’s wings. The other set of wings is set with emeralds of various shades of green whilst the body of the dragonfly is made up of a pearl and a row of graduated rubies. The eyes of the dragonfly are ruby cabochons, set on either side of a further tiny diamond on the dragonfly’s forehead. All the diamonds are set into silver to enhance their brilliance while the other gemstones are set into 18ct gold. The back of the brooch and the fitting are also 18ct gold. The pin itself has been crafted in 14ct gold for extra durability. The skill and craftsmanship required to make a piece like this cannot be understated. It has been meticulously crafted ensuring this brooch is of the highest quality and absolutely one of a kind. The piece has an almost sculptural feel to it with the curve of the dragonfly’s body but also the domed shape of the brooch itself.
