Absolutely exceptional museum quality early 20th century 18kt gold medal hallmarked from the Monnaie de Paris and signed O. Roty. Louis-Oscar Roty usually known as Oscar Roty was one of the most celebrated medalist of the Art Nouveau period. This medal featured a Guardian Angel watching over a newborn baby. The inscription Vigilat et Vigilabit Semper, meaning « He is watching and will always watch ». The reverse side features an anchor (symbol of hope) among waves and roses. « Yvonne » is beautifully inscribed. Absolutely exceptional. 7 grams, 23mm x 20mm.
